WEYMOUTH, MA – The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB), New England’s largest famine relief organization, has hired a Weymouth-based Senior Director of Development.

David Giagrando, a South Shore native and experienced development manager, will oversee institutional donations, donor relations and special events for the organization.

“I look forward to working creatively on the development of programs and special events that involve GBFB’s support network,” Giagrando said in a statement. “I am proud to work for an organization that is a leader in expanding access to healthy food.” The demand for food continues to rise here in East Masschusetts. I look forward to working with a very talented team to contribute to the mission to end hunger here. ”

Prior to joining GBFB, Giagrando was AVP for corporate partnerships at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and has worked for several other nonprofits and higher education institutions. Giagrando graduated from Brandeis University with a bachelor’s degree in general studies and the humanities and is a board member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Massachusetts Chapter.

“David brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in community development and revenue generation and we are grateful to have him on our team,” said Arlene Fortunato, GBFB’s senior vice president of advancement, in a statement. “This has been a year like no other, where the need for food aid in eastern Massachusetts remains at historic levels. Our fundraising drives are more important now than ever.”
