Water is not released from the Corpus Christi lake

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – After heavy rains hit the area on Wednesday, several viewers called 3News Thursday to ask why the city is dumping water from local dams instead of refilling the lakes.

The city confirmed they are not releasing water and have not done so in over 72 hours.

“Our city call center and water utility workers have received inquiries about whether we are releasing water from our reservoirs – WE ARE NOT. City officials have not released water from these reservoirs for over 72 hours,” a city statement said .

If there is excessive water flow in these areas, it is, according to official data, due to rivers and streams that have been overcrowded from previous and persistent rainstorms.
