Visit Corpus Christi Tuesday unveiled the Gulf Coasters program, a new beach hype team for Coastal Bend.
The Gulf Coasters leisure program was created to bring Corpus Christi tourists closer to the various restaurants and shops in the city.
“We wanted to improve the visitor experience,” said Sammie Ramon, Gulf Coasters program director. “This is a new element for our team and for Corpus Christi that I think will really benefit us in the years to come.”
Gulf Coasters members will travel in “Gulf” carts to provide advertising opportunities for visitors and to interact with visitors to let them know what’s going on on Corpus Christi and how to attend.
Ramon said the program will also launch a digital golf coaster challenge that will take visitors on a scavenger hunt around town to win prizes and experience more on their journey.
“Being able to step in front of these people who may not have known that other things were going on off the beach is what we want to do,” Ramon said. “Our inspiration really came from the experience of our visitors and we want to change that for them every year.”

Ramon said the team will consist of five to six full-time extroverts and other community volunteers.
The Gulf Coasters program kicks off May 21st with volunteers and staff driving the custom-made golf carts along beaches, at conventions and other key locations around the city.
Visit Corpus Christi is actively seeking full-time employees to fill various positions in the Gulf Coasters program.
