The HOSPiS nominations for Corpus Christi are now open

The past 12 months have been a tough year for the tourism industry, which made the HOSPiS in Corpus Christi even more relevant. Visit Corpus Christi has opened nominations for individuals and businesses that make an impact in the tourism and meeting industries. The deadline for entries is March 15th.

The winners will be announced at the HOSPiS Gala and Awards Ceremony on April 29th at the Omni Bayfront Hotel, which this year will be a hybrid event. The celebrations begin with a virtual annual Corpus Christi meeting, followed by an in-person dinner and awards ceremony.

The first HOSPis, which stands for hospitality, were held in 2017.

“In this exceptionally challenging year, we are excited more than ever to recognize and support those who work hard every day to make our city exceptional,” said Erica Bhakta, Executive Vice President of Visit Corpus Christi. “We invite our community to work with us to shed some light on the hard-working professionals who keep the hotel and tourism industry in our community alive and successful.”

A committee of industry leaders will rank nominations with the top five scores in each category selected for nomination. This year’s categories include:

HOUSi – Housekeeper of the Year

Those who go beyond their cleaning duties and consistently exceed expectations of the guest experience through exceptional service and cleanliness.

HOMi – hometown hero

A team player who exudes positivity and passionately sets impulses for the success of the community and who embodies the true spirit of hospitality.

FRIENDLi – Tourism Extraordinaire

Creates unforgettable experiences for guests and is exceptionally committed to teamwork.

FOOD – restaurant

An individual owner, manager or restaurant that represents the community through outstanding hospitality and customer service by providing consistent quality and superb quality in terms of food, atmosphere and service.

BOOZi – bar / bartender

Individual owner, manager or bar providing consistent quality and excellent drinks, atmosphere and service by representing the community they serve through excellent hospitality and customer service.

COMFi – Hotel

Hotels that consistently exceed their goals in terms of both sales and customer service, or how they have changed a process to improve the hotel, its guests and employees.

HATTi – attraction

The attraction that overcame an obstacle, changed a procedure, or created a unique experience to improve visibility and pedestrian traffic.

SPARKi

Individuals under the age of 35 who demonstrate promising leadership skills and vision in the Corpus Christi tourism industry.

HEART heart of the house

The Heart of House Employee of the Year is recognized in each category of hotels, restaurants and attractions and recognizes excellence in back-of-house service staff who indirectly engage with the public, customers and visitors by providing experienced, but provide services that are not necessarily seen.

HAPPi front of the house

Front of House Employee of the Year, honored in each category of hotels, restaurants, and attractions, recognizing excellence in front of House Service employees who interact directly with the public, customers, and tourists.
