There is new information about a fatal sting on Valentine’s Day in Corpus Christi.
The victim has now been identified as 95-year-old Maria Diaz. She was stabbed to death in a house on Vestal Street near Gollihar and the Crosstown Expressway.
A 65-year-old woman was also stabbed and taken to the hospital. There is no word tonight about her condition.
Police say the suspect, 33-year-old Jonathan Avery, was arrested at the scene. He is charged with murder and aggravated assault with a lethal weapon.
At 1:18 p.m. on Sunday, February 14, Corpus Christi police were sent to Vestal’s 4,500 block to receive a medic call that was later upgraded to a possible stab.
The officers went inside and said they found two female stab victims. The victims were taken to a local hospital where one died.
Police say this was not an accidental act of violence and there are no outstanding suspects.
