Selena Festival in Corpus Christi is canceled by the family

It is not known when or where the next festival celebrating the life of the “Queen of Tejano Music” – Selena will be held. Her family has not given the Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors Bureau permission to hold another.

Office spokeswoman Teresa Rodriguez did not comment on the Quintanilla family’s motivation to cancel the Fiesta de la Flor.

She said the office is thrilled to host the festival that celebrated the life of the singer who lived on Corpus Christi. The last one took place in April.

“What we can say is that we have loved the Quintanilla family and the Selena Foundation for the past five years,” said Rodriguez.

The Corpus Christi Caller-Times reports that there was a dispute over a profit-sharing plan for the festival.

When asked if San Antonio was interested in attracting the festival, a representative from Visit San Antonio said the organization currently has nothing to share.

In 2015, TPR produced a story detailing the disagreements over Selena’s legacy in Corpus Christi.

Selena was murdered by her former fan club president Yolanda Saldivar in 1995. Saldivar is serving his life in prison.
