CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – A Corpus Christi man is behind bars accused of killing his mother.

James O’Donnell, 50, has been charged with murder. He is in Nueces County Jail on $ 900,000 in bonds.

O’Donnell was arrested in Live Oak County over the weekend.

Texas Department of Public Security officials say O’Donnell’s vehicle was parked near a roadside brush near Lake Corpus Christi. A passerby believed the vehicle had crashed and called 911.

When the officers arrived, they found O’Donnell and his mother’s body in his car.

According to his arrest report, O’Donnell later confessed that he killed his mother at her home on 400 block of Ashland Drive near Seaside Cemetery.

The same house was the site of a fire earlier that day.
